Area V

Business 

This major is available through multiple campuses of Troy University and through TROY Online .  Please contact specific campuses for program availability.

 

AREA I-V Recommendations

AREA I:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at Troy University.  "D" grades will not transfer.

 

AREA II:

No additional hours in Area II should be taken once 12sh is taken from the courses listed in Area II on the Transfer Guide.

 

AREA III:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen.  "D" grades will not transfer. 

 

AREA IV:

No additional hours in Area IV should be taken once 12sh is taken from the courses listed in Area IV on the Transfer Guide.

 

AREA V:

SPECIAL NOTE: 
Transfer credit will NOT be awarded in any course to be used in the business core or major in which a grade or ‘C' or higher has not been achieved. 

*BUS, 242, BUS 272, and MTH 120(or 125) from Area V of the transfer guide are NOT required by TROY.    If taken, they will count only as free elective credit.  However, if no other math is completed in Area III, the Calculus course may apply as the Area III math option.  

The remaining 19 SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 19 SH from the following:

  • ORI 101 (Orientation to College)(1 SH) 
  • CIS 146 (Microcomputer Applications) (3 SH) 
  • BUS 241 (Introduction to Accounting I) (3 SH)  
  • BUS 263 (Legal and Social Environment of Business) (3 SH) 
  • BUS 271 (Business Statistics I) (3SH) 
  • BUS 275 (Principles of Management)(3 SH) 
  • BUS 285 (Principles of Marketing)(3 SH)

 

Troy University Baccalaureate Degrees

The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:

  1. A minimum of 120 SH
  2. At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit
  3. No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
  4. At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with Troy University.
  5. Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at Troy University.
