Biographical Sketch:  Mrs. Lela Kennedy Harris (1893-1983) was a native of Madison County, AL before moving to the Dothan.  She was a graduate of Troy State University and taught school in both the Madison and Houston County School Systems. Mrs. Harris was the widow of former Dothan Fire Chief John Floyd Harris (1897-1980). Scope / Content: Contains scrapbook detailing events for Dothan and the surrounding areas including, but not limited to, Midland City, AL, Slocomb, AL, and Graceville, FL.  Contents cover variety of topics, such as anniversaries, deaths, politics, local clubs, churches and quotes/anecdotes.  Scrapbook was made mostly of newspapers and magazine clippings, but also includes postage stamps, brochures, church bulletins and part of an FBC (First Baptist Church) directory.

Provenance:  Mrs. Harris' scrapbook was stored at the Houston Love Memorial Library. When the Library moved to a new building in 2014, this scrapbook was among items sent some items from the local history room to the Wiregrass Archives.

Processing Notes:  Wire binding was too tight and was stressing pages - cover already separated - Archivist made decision to unbind, number by page (not leaf) and folder. Numbering was done in pencil and circled, bottom right wherever possible, and began with the inside of the front cover and ended with the inside of the back cover (total 394 pages plus front & back cover).  There is no indication of chronological order; most clippings have no indication of newspaper or date.
