Georgia Stewart Co.,
July 25th 1851.
Dear Sir: Your favor of the 12th has just come to hand and I will endeavor as well as I can to answer it.
We are sorry to hear of the sickness of your wife; but hope you are all well by this time.
There has come a very great chang over myself and family. Mrs. Burns is no more. She departed this life on the 11th of July about 10 o’clock in the evening. She was sick but a few days (8.) The cause of that, I believe to have been over exercise, having walked to church and back on Thursday the 3rd. She came home and was up until Friday evening when she went to bed and expired on the following Friday as above.
My health is tolerably good. That of the neighborhood is not so very good at present as has been for some time back.
James is well and so is all my family with the exception of Charity.
Write to me at any time for I will glad to hear from you at any time.
Yours with much respect
A. Burns
