Biographical Sketch:  Dr. Alan Belches was a long-time member of the English faculty at Troy State University Dothan (after 2005, Troy University Dothan Campus) who also served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and as the TSUD chief academic officer.  After the "OGU" merger of 2005 he became an associate dean of the Dothan Campus College of Arts and Sciences, then returned to the classroom.  He retired in 2017.

Scope / Content Note:  Records, photographs, artifacts produced by Dr. Belsches as a result of his administrative positions or accumulated by him as a member of the English faculty.  Includes a large volume of email correspondence with his College of Business counterpart, Dr. Adair Gilbert, digitized records of importance concerning his administrative duties along with the 2005 and later One Great University merger, TSUD memorabilia, and artifacts mocking OGU.  Also includes research notes and PowerPoint scripts / handouts concerning Doug Bailey's novel set in Dothan, Devil Make a Third.

Series:  Office Records, 1986 – 2012.  Three folders plus born-digital files.  Collected or created by Belsches in his many administrative roles.  Contains multiple administrative body meeting minutes and summaries of such meetings for CAS faculty, supervisory materials, reports on administrative assignments (particularly on things related to the 2005 merger), and program adjustments.  Contains some teaching-related items.

Series:  Correspondence, 2002 – 2008.  Similar to the Office Records series.  Printouts of correspondence from Belsches to his College of Business counterpart Adair Gilbert coordinating with COB on accreditation and moving the CIS major to the College of Arts and Science (then losing it after the merger) and keeping Gilbert informed about CAS administrative goings-on.
