Biographical Sketch:  Mr. Greer grew up in Slocomb, AL, and served in the US Navy in the mid 1950s. He worked as an airplane mechanic and retired from a career in glass manufacturing to return to Midland City, AL, where he opened a construction company. He writes items on local history for the Slocomb Town Crier, the Hartford News, and the Slocomb Reaper-Ledger, as well as letters to the editor of local newspapers.

Mr. Greer's father served in the US Army in World War I, then returned to Geneva County, AL, where he worked in the lumber industry.

Scope / Content Note:  Contains 10 scanned images of Levi Washington Greer in WWI, Mike Greer as US sailor in mid 1950s, and various images of L.W. Greer operating his lumber business. Also contains various articles and letters published in local newspapers by Mike Greer, mostly on local historical subjects.
